Job Title:           Traffic Signal Technician – Traffic Maintenance (49)

Department:       Public Service (25)

Status:                 A. Classified B. Nonexempt – FLSA


Job Summary:   Responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of municipal traffic signals and devices.  Works under the immediate direction of the Superintendent.


Job Duties:


     –      Install and maintain traffic signals and controllers.

     –      Cut traffic signal loops; test conflict monitors.

–      Repair damaged signal equipment.

     –      Maintain records of work performed at traffic intersections.

     –      Establish timing for intersections.

     –      Testify in court on matters relating to traffic signals.

     –      Perform other related duties as required.

Work Environment:   Heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally); indoor/outdoor.  Subject to hazards: moving mechanical parts, electric current, water, chemicals; atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, gases; occasional exposure to below 32 degree F temperatures, noise and vibration.  Physical activity: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping and feeling.   Repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers.


Requirements:   High school graduate or GED certificate. Valid commercial driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.  Knowledge of pre-time, solid state, micro processing traffic controllers. Ability to express or exchange ideas and instructions accurately and clearly. IMSA Work Zone Safety, Traffic Signal Level I and II Certifications.

City of Pepper Pike Service Department:  Administrative Assistant

Full-time position working 7am – 3pm providing administrative support for Service Director and Foreman; maintain daily operations of the Service Department by carrying out administrative duties of the department, special city projects and events.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, its equivalent (GED), or higher.  Experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job is a plus.


Individual must be able to maintain professional demeanor with residents at all times. Individual must multi-task and possess excellent communication, reporting and administrative writing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Publisher, required.   Individual needs to be highly organized, possess excellent analytical ability and be a problem solver.

Rate of Pay:  $17.15 per hour
